ABOUT US

The Congregation of the Holy Family (CHF) was founded by Chiramal Mankidian Thresia , Blessed Mariam Thresia with the purpose of Christianization of families . Rev. Fr. Joseph Vithayathil is the co- founder of the Congregation . On 14th May 1914 Mar John Menachery , Bishop of the Diocese of Thrissur officially blessed and instituted the congregation in Puthenchira , presently in the Diocese of Irinjalakuda. In 1976 a special General synaxis was convened from 12-14 February. In that time discussed the possibilities of dividing the congregation in to provinces. In the second session the special General synaxis which was convened on 3rd April 1976 it was decided to make the division based on geographical areas south ,centre , and north . The first region assembly of the centre region was held at Nirmala convent at Ayyanthole on 25th September 1976, presided over by Mother Anasthasia, Superior General of CHF. The congregation was raised to the pontifical status on 1978 . The names of the region was Pavanatma , Navajyothi , and Marian centering around Irinjalakuda , Thrissur and Palakkad respectively. Each province had been given mission centers under it. The mission centers under Navajyothi province were raised in to region on 20th October 1985. In 18th December 2002 Navajyothi province divided in another region . That was in the time of silver jubilee of Navajyothi Province . Now it was an vice province named Kripajyothi. The charism and the vision of the Foundress are the care and the well spring of the identity of the congregation and also our province. Communication with God through contemplation, meditation of the word of God, the fraternal love for the poor are the streams of our heritage . the main apostolates are family visit ,Education , health care ,parish work, Care for the destitute , work of mercy etc .the thrust of every apostolate undertaken anywhere at any time was towards family. Blessed Mariam Thresia known as the pioneer of family apostolate and the congregation fulfils her mission through different kinds of family apostolate activities. At present the province has family counselling centers , parallel colleges , L P , U P , High Schools , Higher Secondary Schools , orphaneges , Homeo clinics , Home for the aged , Special School for differently abled children . At present we have 36 Convents , 413 professed sisters , 14 Novices, 16 pre-novices .
